TRAILS
We are surrounded by Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Mount Tamalpais trails. We are primarily a trail riding community, enjoying these amazing trails that connect us from the Marin Headlands to the Marin Municipal Water District on Mount Tam. Most of our members are pleasure riders but some top competitive trail horses have boarded with us to condition for Endurance and Ride & Tie Races.

The coastal trails have amazing ocean views while the valley trails take you through Redwoods, Bay and Buckeye trees.  Wild flowers are vibrant in the spring, and the trails above Green Gulch view Mount Tamalpais, the source of our watershed.

“Ocean Rider”

Riding on the beach is a privilege we don’t want to lose so we are respectful of the conditions to make sure all beach goers are comfortable and avoid going during crowded times of day or week and high tide.

We share many of these trails with hikers and mountain bikers so expect our members to uphold and model exceptional trail riding etiquette on safe and experienced horses.  While we do have young riders at our barn we are not appropriate for green horses or inexperienced riders.

Ocean Riders Volunteer Mounted Patrol

Our trails cover all of the GGNRA land and connect to Mount Tam State Park trails.  Several of our members are Volunteer Mounted Patrol for Mount Tam State Parks, providing assistance and information to visitors and informing rangers of trail hazards and conflicts.

Ocean Riders members proudly participated in the Dias Ridge Trail Opening Ceremonies that were held at the Golden Gate Dairy Stables.   Our good friend, the late Barbara Weitz was honored for her leadership and contribution in preserving equestrian lands and trails.  We are most appreciative of the years of support we have received from Barbara and her organization, Bay Area Barns and Trails (BABT).
